Estates—Lifting Your Spirits
This CLE will focus both on statutory requirements for title to pass and title insurance requirements for current and future transactions. We will discuss how to protect purchasers from creditor claims, when it is necessary for the personal representative to join in the conveyance, and how to handle land transfers when an estate is being administered in another county or state. Finally, and most controversially, we will discuss when the proceeds check should go to the estate and when it is best to go directly to the heirs.
